The Bible is Worth the Risk

Every night they secretly dig up the jar buried in their yard and pull out the forbidden book to read. They'll be killed if anyone in their North Korean village finds out. Many have suffered for this book, but that doesn't stop them.

I probably have 30 Bibles in my home in a variety of translations—large print, pocket-size, loose-leaf, leather, paperback, red-letter, study, devotional, journaling, and parallel.

I read my Bible in public places with no fear.

Every day, I take this wonderful book for granted.

But today, my heart is filled with gratitude for my Bible and my freedom. And my prayers are with my North Korean brothers and sisters who know better than I do that “man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God” (Matthew 4:4).

Take some time today to read your Bible and pray for your brothers and sisters in North Korea.
